The winds have picked up just in time for Thanksgiving. Thank you to OPALCO for the speedy work restoring power this morning. And a big shout out to the Community Church and volunteers for opening the Cold Weather Shelter Nov. 28, 29, and 30 in the church on Madrona Street. The shelter is open to anyone who needs it, so if heat goes out when the power does, there is a warm place to gather. Please help spread the word.
The 2019 Give Orcas Holiday Catalog launches December 2nd at 12:01 am. Guessing who the Flat Ambassador has begun and Kate is posting daily hints on OICF’s Facebook page. So far, we have heard that the Flat person ‘Puts family first’ and that the ‘Electric Slide could be their favorite dance.’ Who could it be??? You can make a guess every day here. Everyone who guesses correctly will be entered into a drawing to win $500 for the program of their choice in the catalog. Let the games begin!
The OICF offices will be closed Thursday and Friday in celebration of Thanksgiving. Here’s hoping the winds die down, the power stays on, and you are surrounded by those you love and enjoy.
