I am sad to let you know that Bruce Coffey died this week. Bruce was one of the Founders of OICF and was a Board and Committee Member for nearly 20 years. He was instrumental in setting up our investments independently and helped guide us to where we are today. Bruce was always thoughtful, interested, and kind. He will be dearly missed on Orcas and beyond. Love to all who loved Bruce, especially Marty and their children.

Fortunately, we had the opportunity to make a video of a conversation Bruce and Doug Bechtel had about the early days of OICF. It can be viewed here. So great to hear his voice and see that smile once again. Thank you to Jake Perrine and the Orcas Center for the video production.

The Ferry Advisory Committee meets this Saturday from 9-11 a.m. and on Tuesday from 6-7:30 p.m. to provide an update on the current situation and gather public comment. This will be a Zoom event. You can go here to get the agendas and Zoom links.

The Holiday GiveOrcas Campaign is getting rolling. Proposals are due Friday, October 21 at 5 p.m. More information can be found here. So far, we are seeing a marked increase in the number and size of requests. I suspect that this is due in part to the continued disruption of in-person fundraising events from Covid concerns.

I will be heading east next week to see family and friends. Looking forward to returning refreshed and relaxed.

All the best—
H
