How in the world did Summer fly by so quickly? Here we are at the week before the school year starts. The school has undergone quite the transformation this summer, as construction continues on the new multi-purpose room, the Track, and remodel of the Old Gym. Superintendent Web has been great about sending out updates on the progress. Check one out here.

Just this week, OICF delivered the final payment of the track donation. The goal is to have the track fully completed by November. We are planning a Henigson Mile competitive event to celebrate (there will also be a relay for those of us who are better at celebrating than running). I will send out more information as the date nears. But for those of you who plan to race, you better start training!

With over 50% of Orcas elementary families qualifying for Free and Reduced meal services, the costs of school supplies can be a challenge. Fortunately, Island Market has organized a donation drive and they have raised $2900 of their $5000 goal. All funds go to the support students in need so that everyone has what they need to succeed in school. If you’d like to pitch in, swing by the market this weekend and make a contribution; their campaign ends on Sept. 2nd.

We are really looking forward to seeing so many of you at the Block Party this Thursday (5-7 pm). The Community Church has offered their lot for parking. If walking that distance is a challenge, you can also park at Island House Dental right behind our building. This is a great opportunity to introduce friends and neighbors to the work of the Foundation; please feel free to bring guests.

Have a lovely weekend,
Hilary
