The OICF Give Orcas Grants Committee (pictured above) wrapped up its deliberations this week, vetting and ranking 25 proposals that will be in the GiveOrcas campaign in May. Thank you to the many community members who served on the committee this year! They were thoughtful, diligent, and deeply invested in the work.

It is always interesting to hear the discussion about each program and what niche or need it fills for the community. The team was clear in their desire to prioritize social services that meet the most basic needs, but also understood that arts and recreation are vital as well. The final portfolio is a great representation of the variety of efforts that combine to make this community so vibrant.

The catalog goes live on May 1st and runs through May 17th. We are planning to shake up the awards celebration this year, holding the party at the Parish Hall.  Please put May 22nd, 4-6 PM, on your calendar. It should be a very jolly and heartwarming event.

I hope you have a great weekend. Moran State Park clean up is on Saturday, April 13. There is PLENTY of work to do and lunch will be provided! Hope to see you there.
