San Juan County is in the process of updating the County’s Comprehensive Plan. This past year, many Orcas residents have been working to craft a vision for the future of Eastsound and a path towards achieving that vision. The Eastsound Planning and Review Committee (EPRC), an advisory board for the County, has developed a survey to bring additional voices and opinions into the conversation. As our population grows and our issues become more complex, we may need to rethink our structures and processes for both governing ourselves and supporting the community as a whole. This is plenty to ponder during these rainy afternoons. I suspect we will have many more discussions and opportunities to help create a good future for all.
This is Homecoming weekend. If you are in town, the parade is at 5:15 tonight and will lead to a big chili feed at the village green. It is a heartwarming experience and I hope to see you there!
