Stephanie Iverson paints the town!

You may have noticed a new mural coming to life on the side of the Wausau Building next to Ace Hardware.  This is the work of local artist Stephanie Iverson.  She is hoping to complete the water scene by the end of summer.  Swing on by and cheer her on when you have a chance. She is volunteering her time and any encouragement (or contribution) would be welcome!

The OPAL Community Land Trust Gala is this weekend and is being held virtually.  They will open the event today at noon and run it through Sunday, so you can hop in here at any time that works for you.  They have even cleverly figured out a dessert dash that does not require a sprint.

The Garden Club is also hosting a tour this weekend—this one live and in person!  Information on tickets and directions are here.  Hopefully a few of the gardens will have sprinklers on to keep you cool as you meander.

OPAL, OCRC, and OICF directors all met with the Whatcom Opportunity Council this week to discuss the development of a supportive shelter program for the island.  This would be a continuation of the shelter effort that has helped over 30 neighbors during the pandemic.  We are currently inviting individuals, businesses, and organizations to join the coalition as community members.  If you are interested in learning more, head to this page to learn more, or give me a call.  Happy to answer questions and discuss further.

Hope to see you at the Track Celebration tomorrow at Noon!
