The Medical Teams International Mobile Dental Clinic is back on the island this weekend, starting year number six serving Orcas. The Clinic has made 24 visits to Orcas, providing 642 patient visits to date. The total value of the care provided is over $379,000, not including the dentures that have been provided as well. What amazing support for so many neighbors.
These clinics would not be possible without the generous contributions of so many–the hygienists, assistants and dentists who donate their time and talent, Medical Teams International, who provide a state of art van outfitted with great tools and technology, and nurses Rita Bailey, Barbara Ehrmantraut, and Norene Nealy, who manage scheduling and patient intake. The Community Church provides space and electricity. For this round, Rosario Resort and Bayside Cottages donated housing and the Orcas Food Coop contributed meals. Jim Biddick and the Lions provided volunteers. It is truly a team effort.
This would not be possible without the generosity of so many donors. Your contributions have been key to providing access to dental care. What a life changing gift. Anyone interested in donating to these clinics may give to the Dental Van fund.
OICF will host a Social Services Summit this Tuesday from 3-5 at the Fire Hall. This will be a great opportunity for those working in the sector or serving on Boards to hear more about programs and services available to clients.
Working together, we are making the community stronger.
