It appears Orcas is back in action, and ready for summer to commence.

The Solstice Parade returns this Saturday at noon.  Leaving from the Oddfellows Hall and winding its way through Eastsound to the Village Green, where there will be music, dancing, and much merriment.  Saturday evening marks the first of Orcas Center’s free outdoor concerts featuring Madison West and the Good Lovelies at 6 pm.  This series is sponsored in part by the Ginny Lu Wood Blue Marble Legacy fund.

The next will be the Fourth of July Parade sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce.  It will be Saturday July 2nd and this year’s theme is Honoring Island Families, and will feature the Linnes lineage as the Grand Marshals.

Also this weekend there is a series of Pride celebrations starting with a Gay Field Day at 2 on Friday.  For a complete listing of events, click here. And then on Monday, there is a Juneteenth Celebration at 3 on the Village Green.  We are a community that loves a good celebration!  If all this tuckers you out, head over to the New Leaf to enjoy a Very Berry Pride beverage and a percentage will be donated to the LGBT fund held at OICF.

While many folks are ready to gather, others are still needing to distance.  With that in mind, OICF has invested in a Meeting Owl — a device that supports hybrid meetings held both in person and via zoom.  If your organization is interested in borrowing the Owl for meetings, give us a call, and we can help you get set up.  It works well with a good wifi connection.

Lastly, we are closing out our Puzzle Exchange that we hosted in the Volk Room during the pandemic.  Please swing by and pick up a puzzle or two if you would like.  There are some great ones available.

Hoping the sun shines on you for the Solstice —
Hilary
