We were astounded when on Tuesday, just eight days into the GveOrcas 2021 Campaign, we reached FULL FUNDING.  All 24 proposals!  Thanks to the 255 donors who contributed $231,031 to make this possible.  It was a little hard not to move forward with Unique Donor Day, as that’s a highlight of the campaign, but we have faith that it will be back in the next round.  This community continues to amaze me with its generosity and compassion.  Thank you!

This coming week is the window for candidates to file for many open seats on local boards including the Fire Commission, School Board, Port and Parks & Recreation.  You can find a complete list of open positions and information on the process here.  Hopefully, we will have a good response as there are several openings that carry a great deal of responsibility for the community.

If you know of anyone who is not yet vaccinated, please let them know the County is hosting both Pfizer and the one dose Johnson & Johnson clinics in the coming weeks. The first one is tomorrow at 11 at the Orcas Center.  Appointments can be made here. You can also walk up, and they will get you in.  With the CDC changing mask guidelines, getting everyone vaccinated is as important as it ever has been. To that end, I wish us all grace and understanding as we navigate our new comfort levels once again.  This has been quite an ordeal and we are getting so close.  Let’s keep it together, and keep it up!

Have a great weekend!
