The Flat Person Family!

Food Bank Director Amanda Sparks is the 2022 GiveOrcas Flat Person, serving as the ambassador for the GiveOrcas Holiday Campaign. Welcome to the family, Amanda! 17 people guessed she was the one, and Tom Eversole won the $500 prize, which he donated to the Orcas Senior Center proposal.

Take a selfie with Flat Amanda while holding up the name of the organization you’d like to support when you see her out and about, post it on Facebook or Instagram with #giveorcas. You will be entered into a drawing on December 9th, and you could win $500 to donate to the proposal of your choice!

The Holiday Campaign launched yesterday, and we have already received over 50 donations. There are 24 proposals representing a wide range of community needs and opportunities— from housing and food to music and art. There is truly something for everyone. The Campaign runs through December 15th, with two game days to keep it exciting.

Ben Franklin Day is December 5th. The organization who receives the most $100+ donations on that day wins an additional $1,000 from OICF. Then there is Unique Donor Day on the 12th. That’s the day that the organization that receives the highest number of donors within that 24 hours wins $1,000. There will also be prizes for 2nd and 3rd place. You only have to give $10 (or more) to be counted!

It is all very exciting and fun, and it’s a great way to invest in this community. 100% of your gift goes to the organization(s) you choose. OICF does not take an administrative fee for processing the donations, and we even cover the credit card fees, thanks to our Cornerstone Donors. Check out the opportunities to participate in this annual event here.

In celebration of this Campaign and the Holidays, OICF is hosting an Open House on Thursday, December 15th from 3-5 at our office. We invite you to drop by for light refreshments and time with friends. Weather permitting, we will have a fire ring out front and hopefully a little musical entertainment. I hope you can join us.

There are holiday fairs all across Orcas this weekend at the American Legion, at the Orcas Island Winery, in Warm Valley, and at the Library (this is a tea). Should be great fun.

See you there!
