We Did It!

WaaaHOOOOOOOOOOO!

Thank you, Orcas! The GiveOrcas campaign was a great success! More people than ever before contributed! All in all, 774 individuals donated, beating our previous record of 668!  A whopping $311,778, fully funding 12 proposals and significantly funding the rest. So much support for the great nonprofits serving this community. Thanks to all who participated and to Ed Andrews for leading the campaign. Great work, all!

We are ready to celebrate! OICF is having an Ice Cream Social on Thursday the 25th from 4-6 at the shelter at Cascade Lake. We will distribute the Give Orcas grants, the OIHS Seniors will announce their selection for the Youth Philanthropy Awards, and (hopefully) we will enjoy time in the sun together. I sure hope you join us!

This is the last weekend for the local theatrical extravaganza, What Dreams May Come, featuring a cast of 100 of our neighbors. Tickets are still available here.

Today is the deadline for filing for one of the 16 commissioner positions that are open this fall.

You have until 4 PM to file online, or til 4:30 to do so in person in Friday Harbor. Thank you to all who are considering tossing their hat in the ring! You can see who has filed so far here.

Finally, the Orcas Island Education Foundation is hosting a picnic at the Orcas Winery this Sunday from 2-5. There will be music and art and it appears the sun will be shining- a great opportunity to support the schools and have a delish burger as well! Tickets here.

Hope you have a lovely weekend,

Hilary
