Early morning ferry with fog

I am back from my annual camping trip to Flathead Lake. Rested, rejuvenated and not too sunburned.  The morning fog and slightly cooler temps feel just right after a week of 90+ and nearby wildfires.

I return to an island in full swing. This weekend is crawling with free concerts!  Wild Island is hosting two jam sessions for the Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival performers- tonight at 5 and tomorrow at 12:30.  Dave Zoeller is playing at the Farmers Market from 11-1 on Saturday followed by the Friends of Moran concert at the Cascade Lake shelter from 5-7.  On Sunday the Chamber Music Festival is hosting a free Big Band Extravaganza concert on the Village Green on Sunday at 3 sponsored by their Bob Henigson Legacy Fund.

The Studio Tour is also happening this weekend. 31 artists will open their spaces to tour Friday through Sunday for free (other than what you will spend on the treasures you discover)! And to top it all off, the Friends of the Library are hosting their annual Book Sale in the Library parking lot on Saturday.  That should be plenty to keep you busy!

News from OICF is bitter sweet this week. Our stellar Financial Manager, Jennifer Wallace, has announced she will retire at the end of the year.  Jen has been a key member of the OICF team for 9 years, stewarding our financial program as we scaled up.  She has a keen eye for detail, a dry sense of humor, and a heart the size of Texas.  We will miss her dearly.

If you know of anyone looking for a part time bookkeeping gig, send them my way.

I hope to see you at one or more of this weekend’s festivities.

Best-
Hilary
