It is officially Summer and Orcas is celebrating with a parade and a picnic! The Solstice Parade starts at high Noon on June 22, starting in front of the Odd Fellows Hall and snaking the way through town to end up with a dance party at the Stage on the Green. The Village Green will fill again on Sunday for a picnic to celebrate Pride, from noon til 5 PM.
OICF is about to launch our first ever single focus Give Orcas Campaign in support of the April’s Grove affordable town home rental community that OPAL is building. Lisa Byers and her team have been amazingly perseverant and creative in order to get the shovel in the ground for this project, and yet they still have a funding gap of $250,000. We want to fill that!
The campaign will run from June 29 to July 8. Thanks to the generous donations of anonymous neighbors, there will be two days that will provide a boost to your contribution. On July 2nd, all donations of $100 or more will be matched 1:1 up to $40,000. Unique Donor Day will be on July 5th. Staring at 12:01 AM until 11:59 PM, OICF will add $10,000 for every 50 donors (max $50,000).
We could really use your help to get the word out about this effort. Kate is compiling an email list of people she can keep updated throughout the process. I am hoping you might be willing to be on the list and help us by sending out word to your networks or by posting on social media. Let me know if you are willing. Together we can get April over the finish line!
