We made it through January! Watching the lunch crowd flocking towards Roses when it reopened this week was a bit like when the swallows return to Capistrano–a sure sign of Spring! So welcomed after the soaking rain we experienced over the last month.
There is a great deal of buzz around the revisions of the tax codes and how that might impact philanthropic giving. Our peers at the Whatcom Community Foundation have published a helpful document describing the changes and how working with your Community Foundation can assist with your giving and reporting requirements. Please feel free to give me a call if you have any questions about your options. We are happy to help establish a fund that would suit your philanthropic goals and we also currently hold funds for a wide variety of local programs and fields of interest. You can also view a complete list of our current funds.
This is the final week to toss your hat into the ring for the Public Hospital District commission. There are five open seats. Each candidate will select the seat to run for and each seat will essentially be a separate election. They are all at large positions. If you are interested in filing, you can do so on line: http://www.sanjuanco.com/1296/Online-Candidate-Filing
Hope you have a lovely weekend,
