Hoping for Peace

Waking this week in a world with two active and horrific wars. It is so very tragic for so many and the terror is real. I have no words, but hold the hope for resolution and the support for all who are suffering close.

And life on Orcas continues.

Thank you to the candidates who participated in the League of Women’s Voter Forum this week. You can watch a recording here. The LWV has started an Observer Corps, a team of volunteers who attend public meetings and report in the LWV Newsletter. They have a robust team on San Juan and are hoping to build one on Orcas as well. Contact the League if you would like to learn more or volunteer.

Washington State Ferries is seeking candidates for an apprenticeship programto train future ferry employees. The deadline to apply is October 30th. Please help spread the word to anyone you think may be interested.

Representative Debra Lekanoff visited the Pea Patch Property today to learn more about the project. We are hopeful that she will be able to secure funding to support construction when we are ready to build. Currently, we are still awaiting the final demolition and removal of a shed before closing.

Today is also the deadline to submit applications for the Give Orcas Holiday Campaign. If you have any questions or need assistance, please give us a call- 360 376 6423.

Peace,

Hilary
