Over the past couple of years, many new neighbors have moved to Orcas. Some came to ride out the pandemic in their second homes. Others took the opportunity to work remotely, and made the move to the island. It has been challenging to meet these folks while we are still masking up. In an effort to introduce OICF to this new crowd, Ed Andrews, OICF Communications Manager, has produced a lovely welcome piece, which can be seen here.
If you have new neighbors or new friends on Orcas, I would appreciate you sharing this link with them or directing them to our website, where it lives. Better yet, bring them by the OICF office for a cup of tea and an introduction. We are excited to help them connect to the broader community.
In keeping with trying to gather safely, there are several free outdoor events this coming week. Leadership San Juans is hosting “Amplify Her” with booths and a concert on the Village Green on Wednesday the 13th. The following night, Asleep at the Wheel performs as part of the Orcas Center summer concert series, also on the green. Saturday the 16th is a busy day on the Eastside. Olga Daze returns after a two year hiatus. Fresh maple bars, fabulous junk sale, and a great parade at noon. Top Saturday off in Moran State Park, where the Friends of Moran are kicking off their summer concert series with JP and the OK Rhythm Boys at the shelter by the swim area.
Hopefully, I will see you at one or more of these events! Or come on by the office for a visit. It would be great to catch up.
