When we come together as a community and give what we can, it’s amazing what we can accomplish. Thank you for standing with local nonprofits during this Spring’s GiveOrcas campaign and supporting what makes Orcas Island truly extraordinary.
The spirit of giving was truly alive over the past 10 days, with donations totaling $363,030. With an additional $109,000 from the Community Foundation’s Partners in Philanthropy Fund and other sources, we reached a record smashing total of $471,940. With 689 donors and 1,457 donations, we fully funded 14 grant requests and reached 85% of the largest GiveOrcas goal yet, raising more funding for nonprofits than ever before.
Congratulations to all of our 35 grantees, and a standing ovation for their extraordinary efforts and creativity promoting the campaign (did everyone meet Dotty the Squirrel?), for cheering each other on, and especially for the impactful work that they all do for the community.
GiveOrcas is a true celebration of community and goes to show that when we all pitch in, everyone wins. We hope you enjoyed learning about the innovative programs and projects island nonprofits are working on, and remain engaged by continuing to support their work as they each move forward.
