Musical Artist Delighting the Orcas Community

Even in challenging times, the arts have a way of reminding us who we are as a community. They bring neighbors together, spark conversations, and open doors to new perspectives. They nourish our spirits when headlines feel heavy, and they create shared experiences that strengthen the bonds between us.
This summer, there are a multitude of beloved local arts events are doing just that – here are a few to enjoy this week:

  • Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival – Bringing world-class musicians to our island, filling intimate venues with performances that move, delight, and inspire.
  • Orcas Island Artist Studio Tour – Get a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process and a chance to connect directly with the artists who enrich our island’s cultural life.
  • Orcas Center’s Free Summer Concert Series – Welcoming the whole community to gather outdoors for music, dancing, and togetherness—at no cost, so everyone can take part.
  • Funhouse Commons Teen Film Fest – Outdoor screenings featuring short films by film workshop participants and critically acclaimed international films about youth.
  • Orcas Island Library Fair and Book Sale – Browse the Friends of Orcas Island Library book sale, enjoy live music, and don’t miss the ever-popular Rubber Ducky Race, with proceeds supporting the Ken Gibbs Memorial Endowment – all while viewing art on display throughout the library
  • And coming this fall, Rock on the Rock’s production of The Magical Mystery Tour is sure to wow us. Aspiring performers young and young at heart can sign up to participate!

Supporting the arts on Orcas is about more than enjoying performances and exhibitions. It’s about keeping our community vibrant and resilient, ensuring that creativity continues to flourish here regardless of the challenges we face.
If you’re able, please consider attending, volunteering, or making a contribution to an organization that supports the arts. Your participation helps keep the heartbeat of Orcas strong.
