Orcas apples are ready for fall, are you?
The equinox is upon us, with plenty of fall gatherings and activities to look forward to. At OICF, the shift into the cozy, slower vibe of autumn means that applications for nonprofits to be included in the Holiday GiveOrcas campaign are open now through October 7. GiveOrcas campaigns help build awareness of local organizations and raise funds to bolster the programs that make Orcas a stronger and truly thriving community. The 2025 Holiday Campaign will run from December 2 – 11, 2025. Learn more on our website.
Fall is a perfect time to get engaged, meet new people, and take part in shaping the future of the organizations you care about. If you’re considering joining a board, or you recently joined a board and want to refresh your board knowledge, we invite you to our Introduction to Board Service Workshop, on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at Emmanuel Church’s Parish Hall. This free workshop covers basic board responsibilities, effective practices, and how to find the right board for you to serve on.
I’m getting ready to embark on the Hands Across the Water flotilla to Salt Spring Island later today to learn and share about building a sustainable future alongside our island neighbors to the north. If you’re sticking around the island, there’s lots to look forward to. The Exchange is hosting a Swap Meet and Trashion Show at the The Grange on Saturday, and Sunday is the annual Fall Festival Hosted by Family Tides Farm & Northwest Indian College, a free family friendly event open to all with food, arts and crafts, and more!
If you haven’t already, please take the OICF Community Survey – we’d love to hear your thoughts and input as we embark on strategic planning this fall.
