Don Stillman came by to take a drone photo of our garden this week. Fun to see the fruits of our labor from a new perspective!
If you are over 70 ½ you may be eligible to take a qualified charitable distribution of up to $100,000 from your individual retirement account (IRA) this year. If you are interested in using some or all of these funds to benefit multiple organizations, OICF is happy to assist. We receive the funds, cut the individual checks and mail them out. Best part is that it is FREE—no fee, not even for the postage. Our goal is to help you meet your philanthropic goals supporting the programs that you love. Give me a call if you want to learn more.
The Orcas Center is working on a $100,000 matching grant. They have raised a little over $50,000 so far and hope to raise the rest by their open house next weekend. If you are interested in contributing, go here. The Center has done a great deal for this community during the pandemic and now is a great time to show them some love.
Same goes for all of our essential workers—at the grocery store, the clinic and restaurants. They have showed up and served the public day in and out this summer. It hasn’t been easy. For the most part, they have done so with grace and humor. Extending a little gratitude their way would be most welcome as we head into the Fall.
I am thinking back to 9-11-01 and hoping that this anniversary is peaceful and healing. Our world could use a little more of both.
Stay well-
H
