Island Market steps up for our kids once again!
OICF received a very generous anonymous donation for the Dental Van program this week. We are deeply grateful for the support that will ensure all community members have access to dental care. The next clinic is scheduled for September 22-25th. We are looking for housing for the team of dentists and hygienists. If you have a guest space that you would be willing to lend, please give me a call.
The Orcas Island School District is preparing to welcome students and staff back into the school buildings for the 2021-22 school year. They have developed a plan called Project Safe Start that combines Covid testing, masks, and other protocols to keep the schools healthy and safe and keep kids in the classroom. The first round of testing starts on Weds the 25th and you can read more about it here.
In celebration of schools reopening, Island Market is hosting a school supply drive to make sure all students have the supplies needed to kick the year off well. You can donate at the store or online here.
Unfortunately, local Covid cases continue to pop up (the latest update from the County is attached). The County is providing vaccination clinics this next week. The one for Orcas is on Weds, 4:30-6:30 at the Orcas Center. It is open to everyone who is not yet vaccinated (or who needs a second dose of Pfizer) ages 12 and up. Sign up here, or just walk in.
