OICF received word of a legacy gift from Fred Whitridge that will be added to the Community Endowment. Fred was one of the founding members of OICF and a great believer in the power of collective philanthropy. He delighted in encouraging everyone to give and give often. He believed that building community took the effort of all. He set a high bar and I am so grateful for his leadership. OICF and the Orcas community as a whole are stronger because of the efforts of Fred and Betty. We are honored to carry that spirit forward through the Community Endowment.

The GiveOrcas Holiday Catalog is entering the final week. So far, 67 donors have contributed over $21,000! There are two game days left. The last selfie draw is on Tuesday. Take a picture with Flat Colleen, post it on Facebook or Instagram with #giveorcas and we will enter your name in the hat to win an additional $500 for the organization of your choice.  Thursday is Unique Donor Day. The organization that garners the most number of donors will win an additional $1000 from OICF.  It is all good fun and great support for the organizations in the catalog. Check it out at www.giveorcas.org

We have set up several new funds as folks are preparing for the end of the year. If you are interested in donor advised funds, field of interest funds or endowment, we are happy to talk to you about options. We have streamlined our process for fund set up, so we can meet the deadline with no worries.

The Orcas Center is the place to be this weekend to get your Holiday Cheer flowing. December 15 at 2 PM they will be screening the Bolshoi Ballet’s Nutcracker. A generous donor is offering free tickets (up to 4 per family). Then the Community Band’s Holiday Concert is Dec. 16 at 3 PM. Both are guaranteed to bring a little joy and jolly to your weekend.

All the best,
Hilary
